Proof I wear fedoras out of character!
And that art piece IOU was for the raffle at this event- a lady won it who ended up getting “My Husband The Vampire.”
I seriously had a moment of “Why did Bunny post a picture of David?”
….then I remembered they were identical twins.
*THUMBS UP*

Lil’ Steve’s search for the perfect mount continues; the Jon’s hat, while comfortable and stylish, lacked the legs with which to carry it and himself.

Let me start by defining the word “Cavalcadian”:
Cavalcadian(noun):A Fan of Steam Powered Giraffe.
Working with this definition, anyone who is a fan of Steam Powered Giraffe is a Cavalcadian.
We clear?
Ok.
With that in mind, any Cavalcadian can therefore be seen as responsible for positively representing the image of the band(’s fandom).
So.
Let’s look at the image the band is trying to project.
“Life’s too short, so spread the love…”
“Love is all you really need to live.”
“I don’t care much about anything, except for the love in your heart.”
“Do great things where you know they must be done.”
“The sky and ground used to love so well… So we play them a song, And we right their wrongs, And everybody gets along.”
“It’s easy to be angry at something that you don’t understand, And people tend to be stubborn with where they stand.”
“Steam Powered Giraffe: Programmed to Love All.”Love.
Love.
Love.
Love Love.
Love, love, drive, love, understanding, cooperation, love—
LOVE.
iT sEEMs cLEAR to mE.I don’t know, maybe I’m just weird here.*
*newsflash: yes I am weird butnotHere.
But it would *seem* maybe, just maybe, we’re supposed to love each other. Maybe.
So.
When I see these posts about hating this or that. Or hating people who like these things. Or thinking people who like these things are stupid.
And then posts following it saying that people who think people who like it are stupid are stupid.
And then posts following THAT saying people who think people who think people who like it are stupid are stupid are stupid—
*takes deep breath to compose self*
It makes my face go like this: ,’:C
And then it sticks that way.
So if you don’t want my face to stick that way, please. Listen up.I am not going to call you stupid. Or anyone around here stupid.
I am going to say I disagree with hate or anyone who expresses it in any way. I am going to say, I disagree with you and love you anyway. Because that is what we do.
We are a family. We don’t always get along. But when we do, we drink Dos Equ— no wait. When we do, we can do great things. Because we know they must be done.
It is important now more than ever for us to be a family. A lot of the Cavalcadians are here because they are missing something from their lives; a lot of us have not had a real family before, or we’ve been missing some other aspect of our support network in this life. We’re here to find something we’ve never found anywhere else.
So a lot of us are out of practice on how to be a family.
A lot of us are trying to be a thing we’ve never experienced.
And it is SO important to me, personally, that everyone get what they came for in that regard. The love.
So it is hugely important to recognize each other as individuals with differing points of view, to love others for how their points of view guide their lifestyles, and recognize that as long as they aren’t killing anyone— or causing harm to the band IN A WAY THE BAND HAS TOLD US THEY DO NOT WANT— by being as they are, they should probably be allowed to continue.
Let’s identify things the band has said are part of their public policy:
- Don’t make money off our image without talking to us first
- Love
It is important to take a deep breath and realize that disagreeing with someone doesn’t make them wrong, a stupidhead, or even deserving of criticism. Just dialogue, IF THAT.
Look around at how the band interacts. They invest in us, inspire and accept us, and make us feel special. They get busy sometimes, sure. But for how many of us there are, it is incredible they can do as much as they do.
They do not censor us. They have essentially said, as long as no one is making money off the SPG image, they do not care. From a post on David’s blog a while back. They have specifically not commented on some of the more unusual areas of fan work cropping up in their tumblr popularity. They are letting us BE.
So.
Let one another be. I know some are fond of policing the tags… of making others do this or that out of respect for new members. And I’d say that’s a fine and valid way to be too— but we all must keep in mind that it is the PERSONAL preference of those who choose to police.
The central core of the Cavalcadium is love. It is acceptance. And it is family.
Disagree— with reasons and intelligence and respect. But do it with LOVE.
And anyone who expresses hate, anyone who attempts to censor in ways that the band has not attempted to— please keep in mind that these people are doing it out of personal preference and do not speak for the Cavalcadium. It is therefore up to you to determine if your respect for— or agreement with— that person’s personal preference is sufficient for you to change behavior to match it— or not. Totally up to you.
Love each other. Harm no one. Be yourselves.
It’s really pretty simple.

Honeybee: Outside
Boy, I’m really hoping no one else did something like this in the last few weeks.
Welp, this is the extent of my ability to do music. 8-bit, at that. I’d work on the drums and stuff, but I’m sure I’ll screw it up horribly.
Chose the theme to be outside to see if I could do anything upbeat enough for the job. Turns out I did pretty decent for my first time! Hooray!
Riddle out.

Every single one of us in the Fanmily are proud of you. You did such an amazing job at the Zoo this summer, and we wish you so much luck with what you plan to do in the future. You deserve the best of luck.
I speak for the whole Fanmily when I say “I love you and we’re proud of you.” We really do. And to prove it, I’ve gathered up some lovely pictures and a couple messages for you guys to look at. We really love you. Bunny, David, Jon, Michael, Sam, Steve. We really do.
And here to prove it is only a small section of the Fanmily (I hope you all don’t mind the read more, it’s a lot of pictures. I made a collage of them, too: click here but a lot of the pictures are hard to see):
